🎯 Role Summary

The intern will support the Social and Environmental Compliance Unit (SECU) within the Office of Audit and Investigations by assisting with policy research, communication campaigns, case analysis, outreach, and administrative tasks. The role strengthens UNDP’s mission by helping uphold the Social and Environmental Standards (SES), ensuring accountability, improving project outcomes, and safeguarding communities affected by UNDP projects. This internship also offers an opportunity to gain practical experience with compliance mechanisms and innovative applications of AI for information management.

🧩 Key Responsibilities

Assist in policy and factual research
Support social media, traditional media, and outreach communication campaigns
Assist in editing, formatting, and drafting official documents
Identify, collate, and analyze potential evidence related to compliance cases
Support event and logistics coordination, including UNDP conferences
Conduct administrative tasks as assigned
Assist in intake and processing of SECU complaints and dispute resolution requests
Provide translations and quality control for multilingual documents (if applicable)
Support SECU’s AI exploration efforts for automation, data analysis, and information management
Undertake any other tasks assigned by the SECU Head of Unit or OAI supervisors

🎓 Required Qualifications

Education:

Enrollment in or recent graduation (within 1 year) from an undergraduate or graduate program in:
- International development
- International affairs
- Public policy
- Human rights or environmental law
- Communications
- Or other related fields

Experience:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required
Strong research, writing, editing, communication, and time-management skills
Knowledge of social media platforms required
Familiarity with AI tools for data analysis and information management
Knowledge of graphic design or video editing (Adobe Suite) desirable
Interest in law, compliance, accountability mechanisms, ADR, or development is desirable

Language:

Fluency in spoken and written English required
Fluency in Arabic or French highly desirable
Proficiency in other languages is an asset
