Who Can Apply

The fellowship is open to Domestic and International applicants who have a strong record of public service in the United States and a demonstrated commitment to leadership and community impact.

Eligible applicants include:

  • U.S. military veterans and active-duty personnel
  • Federal, state, tribal, and local public employees (teachers, firefighters, police officers, etc.)
  • Alumni of national service programs such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Have 7+ years of public service experience in the United States
  • Demonstrate proven leadership ability
  • Meet Harvard Kennedy School’s admission requirements
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrate strong academic and professional achievement
  • Be ready for full-time, on-campus study in Cambridge, MA

Application Deadline

The deadline for the American Service Fellowship 2025 is:
