Duties and Responsibilities

  • United Nations (UN) is hiring a legal affairs intern for the vacancy available for October 2024.
  • Duties may include but are not limited to assisting the Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) in the systematic collection and analysis of information regarding the human rights situation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and in the preparation of reports, documents, and other written materials, and, in particular, the interns may:
  • Assist in researching and drafting of individual cases of alleged human rights violations;
  • support in responding to requests for information relating to the human rights situation in the region;
  • Assist in preparing and updating Country profile, briefing packages, daily and monthly updates/reports;
  • Support in the preparation of relevant documents; assist in taking minutes of meetings, and perform other related duties as requested by supervisor, as appropriate.

Qualifications/special skills

  • To qualify for the United Nations Secretariat internship program, applicants must, at the time of submission, be a graduate or enrolled in a graduate school program (i.e., a master’s degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or be a graduate or enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree program (i.e., a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree), preferably in the area of law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or a related field, OR have graduated with a university degree as defined above AND, if selected, must commence the internship on the date specified in the acceptance letter.
  • APPLICANTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL WORK Experience FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAMME.
  • No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
  • Your training, education, advanced course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages

  • Fluency in both English and Arabic is required.
